Dr. Sloss has accepted this appointment

and is sailing from Marseilles by the "Ranchi" at

the end of September. There is an interesting

letter from him on the University File 53611 with

regard to his attitude on the recent report of the

local Committee on the University. The attached

cutting from a Hong Kong newspaper is the first

public announcement of his appointment which I

have seen.
